Dear Amanda Withey,
I have been in search of someone with this surname ”Withey” and it is my pleasure to seek for your business assistance, and I want you to consider it very important. This is an opportunity I would like us to utilize very well. I am Mr. Fiifi Kwesi, an officer in charge of Auditing and Accounting section with (Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd), and also a Relationship Account Officer to Dr. Frank Withey.
In 2007, One Late Dr. Frank Withey, a citizen of your country had a fixed deposit with my bank for 36 calendar months, valued US$7,400,000.00 (Seven Million, Four Hundred Thousand US Dollars) the maturity date for this deposit contract was this 16th August 2010. Sadly, Dr. Frank Withey was among the death victims in the Earthquake disaster that occurred on the 12th of may, 2008 in Sichuan province of China that killed thousands of people. He was in China on a business trip and that was how he met his end, I have carried out various inquiries to locate any of his clients and extended relatives but this has proved unsuccessful. Since the demise of this our customer, Dr. Frank Withey, who was a seasoned oil Merchant/contractor here, I have kept a close watch of the deposit records and accounts and since then nobody has come to claim the said money in this a/c as the next of kin.
I hereby write in regards to this effect to have you stand as the rightful beneficiary to Late Dr. Frank Withey, so that the funds will be claimed, released and transferred into your foreign bank account before my Bank declare the total funds unserviceable

And my reply –

Dear Fifi
I am so incredibly delighted to hear from you. My family was just reminiscing about dear old Uncle Frank just a few weeks ago! We knew he was on business in China at that time but were not able to locate him. You see, it wasn’t unusual for Uncle Frank to disappear for months on end – so when we did not hear from him, that did not send alarm bells for some time. We have conducted our own extensive investigations to track him down, using many different and albeit expensive Private investigators. The lead always went cold after 2008 – I’m so terribly sad to hear he passed on.
I’m confused to hear that his fixed deposit is at $7.4 million dollars. My dear Uncle Frank was actually worth in excess of 300 million Australian Dollars. Of which much is unaccounted for. But, the money has never been an issue for us, more so we are concerned about not finding his Aston Martin DB8? It is the actual original James Bond Car. Do you know where this car is? It is of immense sentimental value to the family. You see my Dear Uncle Frank was a bit of a scally wag – a real ladies man, my Mum often talked of him as being the most charming man on earth. He wore a cravat always! And loved all things expensive (that is not unusual for our family tho) and usually only bought expensive things too. In his mansion we found a block of solid gold weighing like 25 kilos – just amazing. Oh he was a character, he was using this as a paper weight on his mahogany desk in his library. He had over 20,000 very limited books. He loved art, obviously! Even owned the original Mona Lisa (nobody knows this but the one in Paris is a replica) – priceless! Although he wasn’t really religious and studied Buddhism as well as many other religions… which is why he was in China I believe. Or maybe he was hoping to find his 9th wife. He had a lot of bad luck with his wives, one fell to her death whilst sky diving even – awful tragedy. Another one bumped her head in his library, knocking the full sized stuffed moose head from the wall, hitting her and killing her instantly! Just awful, he was heartbroken – although rumour has it his mistress at the time, Dame Edna was there to comfort him. And funnily enough, around this time we discovered his eyesight was starting fail him.
I could go on and on, but alas I must dash off to Brighton now to play tennis.
Forever grateful for you reaching out about our dear Uncle Frank

Twiggy and her hat

This is Twiggy, a 4 year old Italian Greyhound.. she does not like her hat, nor baths. She does like long walks in the park, preferably barking like a loon at other dogs or prams that must look like dogs.  When she is not walking in a park, barking like a loon at other dogs – she can be found under a blanket or laying in the sun, if there is sun.

Hell within…

This may be a little melodramatic but what the hell. The other morning, as I waited to get my morning caffeine fix – I looked up at 80 Collins Street and shot this pic – instantly I felt my stomach drop as I thought about another day in the office – bleurgh – a place I once enjoyed going to each day has become a place of dread after a recent restructure. Amazing how the human spirit can be crushed by rejection. This will soon pass I know but in the meantime hell is within!
